The rules of the feed.
EFFECTIVE DATE · July 1, 2026
The rules governing access to the LIAW API — data license, usage limits, billing, and governing law.
§ 01 · ACCEPTANCE
Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using any part of the LIAW application programming interface (the "API"), the LIAW developer dashboard, or any data feed published under the liaw.dev domain (collectively, the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms").
If you are entering into these Terms on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization, and references to "you" in these Terms mean that organization.
If you do not agree to these Terms, do not access or use the Service. Continued use of the Service after we post changes constitutes acceptance of those changes.
§ 02 · SERVICE DESCRIPTION
What LIAW Provides
LIAW normalizes and delivers real-time and historical market data across cryptocurrency and foreign exchange (FX) markets. The Service includes:
- SPOT PRICES — normalized best-bid / best-ask / last-trade per instrument, stamped with venue and ingestion latency.
- CANDLESTICKS — OHLCV bars at standard intervals (1m, 5m, 15m, 1h, 4h, 1d), computed from raw ticks with full lineage.
- SOURCE-QUALITY METRICS — freshness scores, venue latency histograms, and confidence indicators attached to every payload.
- ORDER BOOK SNAPSHOTS — aggregated top-of-book depth across contributing venues, where available under your plan.
The Service is intended for developers building applications, analytical tooling, or internal dashboards. It is not a trading terminal, a brokerage, or a financial services platform.
We reserve the right to add, modify, or remove data feeds, endpoints, or asset coverage at any time with reasonable notice posted to status.liaw.dev or the developer changelog.
§ 03 · API USAGE LIMITS
Usage Limits and Fair Use
Your plan governs the credit allocation and per-minute request rate (RPM) available to your account. Credits are consumed on each API call; the deduction per call varies by endpoint and is documented in the Developer Reference.
When your credit balance reaches zero, API requests return HTTP 429 until the next billing period begins or until you upgrade your plan. Free-tier accounts are throttled, never billed for overages.
You agree not to:
- Circumvent rate limits by distributing requests across multiple accounts, proxies, or credential-sharing arrangements.
- Deploy automated scrapers or bots against non-API web endpoints under the liaw.dev domain.
- Use the Service to probe or benchmark competitor infrastructure.
- Attempt to reverse-engineer the normalization pipeline, venue selection logic, or confidence-scoring model.
We monitor usage patterns and may, at our discretion, suspend accounts exhibiting abusive behavior without prior notice. Repeated violations result in permanent termination.
§ 04 · ACCOUNT TERMS
Account Eligibility and Responsibilities
You must be at least 18 years old and capable of forming a binding contract under applicable law to create an account. Accounts registered on behalf of a legal entity require an authorized representative.
You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account and for maintaining the confidentiality of your API keys. API keys carry the same authority as your credentials — treat them as passwords. If you suspect unauthorized access, rotate your keys immediately from the dashboard and notify us at security@liaw.dev.
Prohibited uses include, but are not limited to:
- Using the Service to facilitate market manipulation or spoofing activity.
- Transmitting malicious code, exploits, or payloads via API requests.
- Impersonating another user, entity, or LIAW employee.
- Using the Service in any jurisdiction where doing so is prohibited by law.
We may require identity verification for high-volume or enterprise accounts at our sole discretion.
§ 05 · BILLING
Plans, Credits, and Payment
Paid plans are billed monthly or annually in advance, in US Dollars. Pricing is listed on the Pricing page. We use Polar as our payment processor; their terms apply to payment transactions.
Credits allocated to a billing period do not roll over. Unused credits expire at the end of each period.
Refunds are issued only for service failures where LIAW's measured monthly uptime falls below 99.5%. Uptime is measured over each calendar month (UTC) from the public status page at status.liaw.dev. An incident counts toward this threshold when the API error rate exceeds 5% sustained for five or more consecutive minutes. In that event, affected accounts receive a prorated credit for the downtime period. We do not issue cash refunds except as required by applicable law.
Downgrades take effect at the start of the next billing cycle. You retain access to your current plan until then. Upgrades take effect immediately, with a prorated charge for the remainder of the current cycle.
We reserve the right to adjust pricing with 30 days' notice. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the new pricing.
§ 06 · DATA LICENSE
Data License and Restrictions
Subject to your compliance with these Terms and payment of applicable fees, LIAW grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access and use market data delivered through the Service ("Licensed Data") for the following permitted purposes:
- Internal analytics and research within your organization.
- Display of prices or aggregated metrics within your own applications, provided each displayed value is attributable to LIAW as the data source.
- Development and testing of applications that consume the API, subject to the usage limits of your plan.
You expressly agree not to:
- Resell, redistribute, sublicense, or otherwise transfer Licensed Data to any third party as a standalone data product.
- Build or operate a competing market data aggregation or normalization service using LIAW outputs.
- Store Licensed Data beyond the historical lookback window permitted by your plan for the purpose of onward sale or distribution.
- Strip, obscure, or alter any source attribution, freshness timestamp, or quality metric embedded in the payload.
The license granted here is read-only. LIAW retains all rights, title, and interest in the normalization methodology, quality metrics, and pipeline architecture. No license to these proprietary elements is granted.
§ 07 · DISCLAIMERS
No Investment Advice; As-Is Data
The Service provides market data for informational and technical purposes only. Nothing delivered through the LIAW API constitutes investment advice, financial advice, tax advice, legal advice, or a recommendation to buy, sell, or hold any financial instrument, security, or digital asset.
Market data carries inherent latency. Prices may differ from the actual traded price at any venue. LIAW does not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, timeliness, or fitness for purpose of any data delivered through the Service.
THE SERVICE AND ALL LICENSED DATA ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR FREE OF HARMFUL COMPONENTS.
You assume sole responsibility for any trading or investment decisions made using data obtained through the Service.
§ 08 · LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, LIAW'S AGGREGATE LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE SHALL NOT EXCEED THE TOTAL FEES PAID BY YOU TO LIAW IN THE 30 CALENDAR DAYS IMMEDIATELY PRECEDING THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM.
IN NO EVENT SHALL LIAW BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOSS OF PROFITS, LOSS OF DATA, LOSS OF GOODWILL, BUSINESS INTERRUPTION, OR COST OF SUBSTITUTE SERVICES, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations of implied warranties or exclusions of incidental or consequential damages; in those jurisdictions, the limitations above apply to the fullest extent permitted by law.
§ 09 · TERMINATION
Termination and Suspension
You may close your account at any time from the account settings page or by contacting support@liaw.dev. Closing your account cancels any active subscription at the end of the current billing period.
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service immediately, without prior notice, for any of the following:
- Violation of any provision of these Terms.
- Abusive API usage patterns that degrade service quality for other users.
- Non-payment of fees after a 7-day cure period.
- Legal or regulatory requirements.
Upon termination, your license to access and use Licensed Data ceases immediately. Sections § 06 (Data License, post-termination carve-out for already-integrated data), § 07 (Disclaimers), § 08 (Limitation of Liability), and § 10 (Governing Law) survive termination.
We will make reasonable efforts to export your usage logs and historical data before account closure upon written request.
§ 10 · GOVERNING LAW
Governing Law and Disputes
These Terms and any dispute arising out of or related to them or the Service shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Delaware, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-law provisions.
Any dispute that cannot be resolved informally shall be submitted to binding arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association (AAA) under its Commercial Arbitration Rules, in New Castle County, Delaware. The arbitration shall be conducted in English. The arbitrator's award shall be final and binding, and judgment may be entered in any court of competent jurisdiction.
Notwithstanding the foregoing, either party may seek injunctive or other equitable relief in the state or federal courts located in New Castle County, Delaware, to prevent irreparable harm. Each party irrevocably submits to the personal jurisdiction of those courts for that purpose.
If any provision of these Terms is held to be unenforceable, that provision will be modified to the minimum extent necessary, and the remainder of the Terms will remain in full force.
